Good Faith Estimates

No surprise math.

Dot & Dash Speech Therapy is a private-pay practice. Before you receive services, you have the right to know what you can reasonably expect to pay.

Under the No Surprises Act, people who are uninsured or choose not to use their insurance generally have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for scheduled health care services.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate is a written estimate of the expected charges for health care services you are scheduled to receive from Dot & Dash.

It is not a bill. It is an estimate based on the services we reasonably expect to provide at the time the estimate is prepared.

Your estimate will include the expected services and charges, itemized so you can see what you are paying for.

When will I receive one?

You can request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services.

If you schedule services in advance, Dot & Dash will provide a Good Faith Estimate within the timeframe required by federal law.

If you schedule care 3–9 business days in advance, the estimate will generally be provided within 1 business day after scheduling.

If you schedule care 10 or more business days in advance, the estimate will generally be provided within 3 business days after scheduling.

If you request an estimate before scheduling, it will generally be provided within 3 business days.

Services scheduled fewer than 3 business days in advance generally do not require a Good Faith Estimate under these federal timing rules.

What if my care changes?

A Good Faith Estimate is based on the services reasonably expected at the time it is prepared. If your care changes or additional services become necessary, the expected charges may change.

If we recommend services that were not included in your original estimate, we’ll discuss the change with you before moving forward whenever possible.

What if my bill is much higher than my estimate?

If you are uninsured or choose not to use your insurance and your final bill from Dot & Dash is at least $400 more than the Good Faith Estimate, you may have the right to use the federal Patient-Provider Dispute Resolution process.
